This Privacy Policy explains what information Your Big Sister collects, why it is used and the choices available to you.

Your Big Sister is an online lifestyle publication operated from Israel. The website address is yourbigsister.net.

Information you choose to provide
We may receive information that you choose to enter into a form or send to us by email. This may include your email address, your message or question and, where the form allows it, an optional display name.
Ask Your Big Sister questions may be considered for publication. Please do not include information that you do not want us to receive or that could identify you or another person unnecessarily. If you ask to remain anonymous, we will not use your name as the display name for the published question, but the question itself may still contain details that identify you.
The forms are configured to send submissions to the relevant email address rather than intentionally store them as WordPress entries. Once received, messages may remain in the relevant email inbox until they are deleted.
Comments are available on most articles and are reviewed before publication. If we publish your comment, the comment and the name or display name you provide will be visible to visitors. Please do not include personal information you do not want to make public. The comment form may ask for your name and email address; your email address is not published. WordPress or tools used to manage comments may also process technical details, such as an IP address, to help moderate comments and prevent spam or misuse.
Newsletter information
If you subscribe to the newsletter, we collect the email address and any optional information you choose to provide. Your details are added to Zoho Campaigns, and the subscription process includes a confirmation email before the subscription becomes active.
You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link in a newsletter or by contacting hello@yourbigsister.net.
Analytics and website use
We use Google Analytics through Google Site Kit to understand how visitors use the website. Depending on your consent and the settings in place, this may involve information such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser information, referral source and interactions with the website.
We do not intentionally use Google Analytics to collect the contents of your form messages or newsletter email address. Google processes Analytics information under its own terms and privacy policies.
How we use information
We may use information to:
- respond to questions, contact requests and other messages;
- consider and, where appropriate, edit or publish Ask Your Big Sister questions;
- publish and moderate comments;
- send a newsletter where you have subscribed and confirmed your subscription;
- understand website traffic and improve the content and user experience;
- maintain website security and prevent misuse; and
- comply with legal obligations where applicable.
Consent and other lawful reasons
Where data protection law requires a lawful basis, we generally rely on your consent for the newsletter and non-essential Analytics cookies. We may process information necessary to respond to a request, operate and secure the website, or pursue a legitimate interest where the law allows it. We may also process information where required by law.
Who may receive information
We may use service providers that help us operate the website and communications, including Flyhost for web hosting, our email service provider, Zoho Campaigns for the newsletter and Google for Analytics. These providers may process information on our behalf and may have their own terms and privacy policies.
The website contains ordinary links to Google Maps. If you click one of those links, you leave our website and Google may receive information according to its own policies. Google Maps is not embedded directly on the website.
International processing
Some service providers may process information in countries outside Israel, the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area. Where applicable, we will take account of the safeguards required by the data protection laws that apply to the processing. You should also review the relevant provider’s privacy information.
How long we keep information
Form and email messages are kept in the relevant inbox until they are deleted, unless we need to retain them for a legitimate reason or legal obligation. Newsletter information is kept while you remain subscribed and is removed or suppressed when you unsubscribe, subject to records needed to honour your unsubscribe request. Google Analytics information is retained according to the settings chosen for the Analytics property and Google’s applicable terms.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live and which law applies, you may have rights to request access to, correction of or deletion of your personal information, withdraw consent, unsubscribe from marketing and object to or restrict certain processing.
